Aesthetic dental veneers are among the least invasive restorations, in fact only 2 to 3 tenths of a millimeter of the enamel on the front surface of the tooth are removed. The filed part is replaced by very thin veneers in ceramics that integrate in an optimal way both from the point of view aesthetic than biological.

NORMALLY THEREFORE A THICK PART OF THE ENAMEL SHOULD BE REMOVED ON THE FRONT SURFACE OF THE TEETH IN QUESTION AND IN THE SPACES BETWEEN ONE TOOTH AND THE OTHER !!!

In some situations it is even possible to add thin layers of ceramic without filing any part of the tooth (Additional Veneers).

Once the doctor completes the preparation of the teeth, a dental impression is taken (today when possible optical). The patient is temporarily discharged after the construction of temporary composite resin veneers; the temporary veneers protect the tooth and simulate the shape and color of the final ceramic veneers.

The dental laboratory builds the ceramic veneers on the plaster model obtained from the impression, using the provisionals as a reference.

At this point the materials that can be composite, ceramic, lithium disilicate are chosen: based on the characteristics of the mouth, the most suitable material will be suggested.

In a subsequent appointment, the dental veneers are tried in the patient's mouth to assess the color, shape and fit to the prepared teeth.

Once these parameters are satisfied, the veneers are finished and polished in the laboratory and then they are cemented to the teeth by using composite cements having a color equal to that of the tooth.

Let's start by saying that dental veneers have no contraindications if we want to exclude the precautions in tearing that will be necessary after their cementation.

The indications are mainly aesthetic: teeth with small lesions, teeth with not very serious discoloration, anomaly in the shape of the anterior teeth.

The ceramic veneer (the single aesthetic veneer) covers the entire visible part of the tooth. The average thickness of the veneers for the teeth is around 0.2-0.5 mm.
